If you poke around in my colour pictures, you'll find a bunch of Mittens character portraits with slightly modified designs from the original ones. Ria's design was perhaps the one that changed the most, mainly because of the fact that I was rather tired of her nonsensical metal armour (complete with fantasy cliché cleavage, of course). While I quite liked her new design, complete with lots of fancy-looking jacket-like garments all layered over each other, I was a bit concerned with the fact that she was always supposed to be relatively well armoured, yet had absolutely no armour visible (nor any sign of it being hidden away) on her body.
I went off to try to put some armour plates over her clothing, but it just looked silly. Thankfully, a few other people suggested that I should put the armour underneath her outfit instead, and the ever-delightful Miss Hira kindly sketched up a picture of how it would work (complete with Ria displaying the most adorable broad grin I think I've ever seen).
Based on all that inspiration, I had another go at drawing a Ria character portrait with the new armour design and this is the result. Sadly, this one never ended up being coloured, but I still like it a lot - I think it is one of my better sketches, and possibly the most well-covered female character I've ever managed!
